Qualifying papers test reading comprehension and clear expression. English paper covers comprehension, précis writing, usage & vocabulary, and short essays. Indian Languages paper includes the same plus translation between English and the Indian language. These are matriculation-level papers for qualification only - marks don't count for ranking. Candidates must answer in respective languages except for translation portions.
